South Sudan police officers selling visas in residential areas arrested – Minister

June 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s interior minister Michael Chiangjiek Gey said immigration police officers selling visas inside residential areas in Juba have been arrested.

The minister said the unnamed police officers were caught selling visas extension stickers and work permits to foreign nationals in several neighborhoods in the capital Juba.

In 2017 we witnessed some inconsistencies. Some of our officers were engaged in unlawful acts. They went and collaborated with some foreigners to sell visas within residential areas,” Chiangjiek said.

The minister further added that the accused will be arraigned in a court soon.

That one resulted into the arrest of some officers and will be soon arraigned in courts,” he added.
