May 5, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Members of South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) have been deployed in neighborhoods where coronavirus patients are being given home-care to prevent them from mingling with members of the public, police spokesman, Brigadier General Daniel Justin, said Tuesday.
This comes after the country’s high level Taskforce on COVID-19 said they have received reports that COVID-19 patients who are currently on home based care have not been following guidelines and have been seen mingling with members of the community.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Tuesday night, Justin said police have been deployed to various homes in the capital Juba to take necessary measures to ensure that the COVID-19 guidelines are respected by the sick to avoid endangering the public health.
“Police forces have been deployed to the homes of the coronavirus patients to ensure that they don’t put the live of the general public at risk,” Justine said.
“As this is known to everyone in Juba, many people who are infected with coronavirus are not respecting the measures put in place by the government and have been moving and coming into contact with members of the public,” he added.
He further warned that violations of the presidency directives will have consequences “because the life of our people is very important. We should not put the lives of our own people at risk just because we are infected by the virus.”
