August 6th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s peace talks which will mainly focus on the discussion over the implementation matrix of the peace agreement and the timetable for the return of the opposition leaders as well as the troops’ redeployment.
South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon on Sunday signed the long-awaited final peace agreement to end the five-year old conflict in South Sudan.
Other armed and non-armed opposition groups including the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) and the SPLM Former Detainees who initially declined the agreement also signed the deal.
Speaking during the signing ceremony of the South Sudan peace agreement, Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyan said he and his Sudanese counterpart Field Marshal Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir have agreed that the talks would continue in the Sudanese capital Khartoum and that the parties would not move to Kenya.
“We have agreed with my brother President Bashir that let us continue with this negotiations right here in Khartoum,” President Uhuru who commended Sudan for its efforts to end the war in South Sudan told the gathering.
