11, February 2017 (Nyamilepedia) — Sudanese President Omer Al-bashir has expressed disappointment that the South Sudan peace agreement have not been implemented accordingly as was signed by Dr Riek and Silva Kiir in Addis Ababa.
In an exclusive interview with Dubai based Al-Arabiya news channel, the Sudanese president warned that peace cannot be achieved in South Sudan if Dr Riek is not part of the process as he was the main leader and signatory to the peace agreement, warning that Machar still has a major popular and military backing inside South Sudan.
“we are part of IGAD which mediated the peace agreement, but with all due regrets, the peace agreement has not been implemented accordingly as we expected” President Bashir said on Al-Arabiya
Al Bashir said the current turmoil in South Sudan was not a surprise as he had already known about the situation in South Sudan in details before the country separated from Sudan.
“However stability of South Sudan is an important to us in (Sudan)”
The president said he feels he has a major responsibility to help restore peace and stability in South Sudan as instability in South Sudan does affect Sudan.
“The situation in South Sudan is unmeasurable too bad, as a former President of the whole of Sudan I feel I have a moral responsibility towards the South Sudanese population as they were former citizens of Sudan, we were one country for more than hundred of years”
Bashir said South Sudanese are not considered as refugees or foreigners in Sudan.
The President said thousands of South Sudanese were fleeing the conflict and entering Sudan but he has directed Sudanese authorities to receive them and treat them as Sudanese citizens because he considered Sudanese (north and south)Â as same citizens in two countries.
When asked what he thinks as a member of IGAD of the current peace process and if it was working, Bashir said there was a sense that the process was not going well as the citizens or people in the opposition feel they do not have a genuine representation in the current process and this generates frustration and disturbance which would lead to an explosion.
“We had agreed as IGAD that the road-map for the peace agreement (ARCISS) should be allowed to be implemented, but there’s a big feeling that the peace process cannot go well without Riek Machar.
The Sudanese President said that armed opposition leader Riek Machar has to be part and parcel of the process for any meaningful peace to be achieved in South Sudan.
“Attempts to distance Machar from the peace process will not lead to peace (in South Sudan) , we are convinced Machar has to be part of the solution” President Bashir concluded

I wish other members of IGAD, would be open like Al Bashir and really tell da truth, not aiming at money as Uganda and Kenya are doing, they with the side that pays them cash on the expense of the poor and hungry south Sudanese citizens
To be honest, without Machar in the peace process, we are just mustarbating politically. The wise thing Salva could have to survive the odd is to work with Marchar to lead the country to peace and let the election judge who is to come to power through the vote. Salva got scared and then created a design to elimimate Machar with judging the situation wisely.
“We are Sudanese people in two countries” I like that quote mr. President.
Bravo President Beshir, But if the Jieng persist to impose their hegemony and if Riek continues to be indifferent the South Sudanese will have to declare parallel Government in South Sudan in the liberated areas.
There is no way peace in southsudan can be achieved,if Dr.Riak is Objected from south sudan politics as he is the main leader of the armed opposition.
In politics, you can not make peace with people you claim are you friends, but you make peace with people who you claim are your enemies so that there would be no more tension. And this can be achieved through peace agreement ad dialoue follows respectively.
I haven’t seen in any part of the world that peace is signed with friends!!
omer yr are agood fr thank u 4 advising festus
that machar should be in peace dialoge
S.Sudanese are well off in their Country, Only that the economical situation is the one facing them, They had been given their prior to do everything possible for themselves and remove more threats from them we had already voted for separation, management ability will come very soon to them, we are neighbors now no more unity of Sudan again.
Mr. Gabriel you are not being honest. S.Sudanese are not well off in their country as you miss protrayed. the economic situation can not improve without peace. President Omar has the right to say his openion as the impact of war is heavily felt by Sudan in the form of refugees pouring daily into his country. He did bless the seperation after the vote. No one is saying there is going to be one Sudan, again. But there might be more than one South Sudan. You have bothered the people.
Implementing any agreement requires the participation of the signatories or else exclusion of the parties implicated in the said agreement suddenly brings minds question like legitimacy and illegality of such implementation and credibility of the unknown actors like Taban and the JCE.
