September 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan holdout opposition groups will meet in October to discuss the outcome of the Hague meeting, a senior opposition official told the Nyamilepedia on Monday.
Several opposition groups met in the Netherlands town of Hague in early September and formed a broad opposition coalition known as “United South Sudan Opposition Movements” and said they would work to fight the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The membership of the opposition coalition include the Real-SPLM led by former SPLM Secretary-General Pagan Amum, South Sudan National Democratic Alliance (SSNDA) led by General Thomas Cirilo and South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) led by ex-army chief General Paul Malong Awan.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Monday, former South Sudan army chief turned opposition figure General Oyai Deng Ajak said the signatories of the agreement will meet in October and discuss the outcome of the Hague meeting.
“We will meet in October and we will discuss the outcome of the Hague meeting which was attended by all the holdout opposition groups,” Ajak told the Nyamilepedia from Nairobi.
Ajak further said the meeting will also discuss if the parties were to join the Real-SPLM recently formed by former SPLM Secretary-General Pagan Amum or remain as a coalition.
“The meeting will also discuss if we would remain as coalition or join the Real-SPLM,” he said.
