July 26th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The embattled South Sudan opposition Alliance (SSOA) reiterated on Thursday its reject of the Khartoum peace proposal that was signed by the South Sudan government and the SPLM-IO led by Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

On Wednesday, the South Sudanese parties in the suburb district of Khartoum’s Soba signed a preliminary agreement of a proposal presented on Tuesday night to the parties by the Sudanese mediation.

The Interim Secretary General Spokesperson of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), Kwaje Lasu, told the Nyamilepedia this afternoon that they are very clear that they will not be a party to a temporal peace deal that is a recipe for a future war.

“After careful critique of the latest Khartoum proposal, we concluded [that] we will NOT be party to such an agreement,” Lasu told the Nyamilepedia.

One group from the South Sudan Opposition Alliance, the South Sudan United Movement (SSUM) led by the former SPLA-IO deputy chief of general staff for operation Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka signed the agreement despite rejection by his colleagues.

Gatdet then accused some of his colleagues in the alliance of wanting to prolong the ongoing civil war by making demands which they will not get thereby prolong the wart and the suffering of the South Sudan people.

It is not clear whether Gatdet is still a part of the alliance and the question why he signed the peace that has been rejected by the other eight members of the alliance remain unanswered.
