South Sudan oil production to resume in September: SUNA

July 30th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s oil production in Unity State will resume in September 2018 according to the country’s petroleum minister Ezekiel Lol Gatkouth who delivered the message to the Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir.

The message was delivered to the Sudanese president in presence of the head of the Sudanese security and intelligence service Gen. Salah Abdallah Gosh and the State Minister in the Office of the President.

In a press statement following the meeting with the Sudanese president, the South Sudanese minister said the oil production will resume on September second in the Tom oil field which is expected to produce about 45, 000 barrels per a day and then the production will resume in Tom South as well as Manga and Unity oil fields and by the end of 5te year, the production will resume in blocks 1,2 and 4.

Lul pointed out that the people of the two sisterly countries will enjoy the resources and the fruitful economy that is awaiting them by September.

South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, and Opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon agreed last month to operationalize the oil production in Unity States for the revival of the economy which has been ruined by the ongoing civil war.

Parties of the two leaders, the government and the SPLM-IO decided to sign the preliminary agreement on the proposed power-sharing agreement which seek to create a presidency with one first vice president and four vice presidents.

The parties are expected to sign a final peace agreement on August 5th 2018 and will be followed by a pre-transitional period of 3 month before which the transitional period commence.
