South Sudan National Taskforce for COVID-19 inaugurates Med- Blue laboratory

Dec 8, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s National Taskforce for COVID-19 has inaugurated Med- Blue laboratory, a private health Laboratory for testing travelers to ease the testing load in public hospitals.

In a meeting with the president this morning, the Vice President for Services Delivery Cluster and Chairman of National Taskforce on Coronavirus, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi, briefed the president on the status of the pandemic in the country.

“H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit was briefed in his Office this Tuesday morning, by the Vice President for Services Delivery Cluster and Chairman of National Taskforce on Coronavirus, H.E. Hussein Abdelbaggi Akol,” read a statement shared by the office of the president.

Speaking to the members of the press after the meeting, the Vice president said that the inauguration of Med- Bluelaboratorys will ease the pressure for testing travelers and will ease the pressure on public facilities.

“In his remarks to the media after the meeting, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi said, Covid-19 National Taskforce has inaugurated Med- Blue as a private health Laboratory for testing travelers as an alternative to ease the pressure on the public health laboratory,” the statement continued. 

H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi further said the National Taskforce is looking forward to authorizing more private health Laboratories to carry out Coronavirus testing.

To date, south Sudan has reported a total number of 3, 181 patients. 3,003 people have since recovered from the virus while 62 people have succumbed to the virus.

H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi reiterated that coronavirus testing of patients remains free of charge at the public health laboratory.
