Nov 09, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — Latest reports from Western Equatoria state accuse senior officials from Equatoria, who are attending the National Dialogue in Juba, of funding atrocities in Western Equatoria state.
According to Hon. William Baiki, the Executive Director in the Office of the Governor of Western Equatoria state, the Transitional Government should hold accountable senior officials that include Hon. Jemma Nunu, Hon Patrick Zamoi, the former Governor of Tombura defunct State and Juma Baziangungu, the SPLM county secretary of Tombura, for allegedly funding the forces loyal to Maj.Gen James Nando in order to disrupt the current State administration under Lt.Gen Alfred Futuyo.
“The State government condemns the act in the strongest terms possible and requesting the national government to question Hon.Jemma Nunu, Hon Patrick Zamoi the former Governor of Tombura defunct State,Juma Baziangungu, the SPLM county secretary of Tombura for praising and funding this negative forces loyal to Maj.Gen James Nando in order to disrupting the current State administration under Hon Lt.Gen Alfred Futuyo.” Hon. Baiki said.
“Their incursion into Central Africa Republic territory is a national threat which violates international law.” He added.
According to Western Equatoria officials, at least 93 guns were caught in possession of a paramount chief along Tombura-Source Yubu in what seemed to have been coordinated through these alleged officials.
“Similarly to that,early this year more than 93 rifles and machine guns were seized by the NSS security along Tombura-Source Yubu in the house of the paramount chief Amboribamu.”The statement reads.
“Their intention was to carry massive genocide in Western Equatoria.” Western Equatoria officials alleged.
The officials believe that Maj. Gen. James Nando consulted Kiir’s administration to establish his barracks between Yambio and Tomubra; however, this was opposed by the citizens of Western Equatoria state.
“Again last month,the defected Gen James Nando requested the national government to allow him to establish a military training centre at Biki located in between Yambio and Tombura deep in the bush which created mixed reactions among the civilians in Western Equatoria.” Read part of Western Equatoria state.
The Western Equatoria officials demand that the Transitional Government should expose these government allied officials who are funding defections of generals from SPLM/A-IO.
“The State government has been in close monitoring of their activities since their defection. In light of the above,the National government should declare Maj.Gen Nando and his sponsors as warmongers in Western Equatoria and should be held accountable for international crimes.” They said.
“The Western Equatoria State government will stand tall and make sure those involved in this attack are expelled and exposed to the National government for further action should South Sudan need peace.” Hon Baiki said.
The intra- and inter-states differences between Western Equatoria on one side against the Central and Equatoria States seem to have widened after the Governor of Western Equatoria State distanced himself from the National Dialogue conference.
While the other two states and SPLM-IG allied officials, who are loyal to President Kiir are attending the National Dialogue, Western Equatoria State, who are loyal to SPLM/A-IO, distanced itself after the main armed opposition and NDM refused to attend the dialogue.
