June 1st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The United Nations Security Council voted on Thursday in favor of sanctioning South Sudan but decided to delayed the execution until June 30th 2018, a ultimatum the world body given South Sudan to either end the war and sign peace with dozens of armed opposition groups in the country or face sanctions.
The UN Council voted 9-0 in favor of the sanctions with the rest of the six council members abstained from the vote including Ethiopia, which has helped lead South Sudan’s peace process since 2014, China and Russia as well as other countries.
The resolution said absent a cessation of hostilities by June 30th, the council would consider freezing the assets and banning travel for six officials who includes Defense Minister Kuol Manyang Juuk, Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth, SPLA Deputy Chief of Defense forces for Logistics, former SPLA Chief of Staff Paul Malong Awan and SPLM-IO governor of Bieh State Koang Rambang Chuol.
The SPLM-IO governor welcomed the sanctions saying they were crucial for achieving peace in the young African country but denied any wrong doing saying he was acting in self defense as the world body knows areas under his control since the latest government offensive against SPLA-IO since August 2017.
South Sudan descended into civil war in December 2013 after forces loyal to the country’s president, Salva Kiir Mayardiit and his then Governor of Northern Bahr Al-Ghazal State Gen. Paul Malong Awan went door-to-door in the capital Juba killing civilians belonging to the Nuer ethnic group sparking a nation-wide protests from top army generals from the Nuer leading to a civil war.
A peace agreement signed in August 2015 by President Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar and negotiated under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union (AU) in presence of Troika and other international observers collapsed in July 2016 following fighting at the presidential palace in Juba “J1” reportedly after President Kiir ordered a failed attempt to arrest the SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar.
A peace revitalization process ended without a formal agreement between warring parties last month in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa after the regional mediated presented a peace proposal that seek to share power between different warring parties.

Yes, dear ones, I am hesitating to jump on board about this decision. Yes, US or anyone else who seem to be serious about this is not against anyone. Their all motivation is to see this citizen live peacefully like the rest of the world. But the reason key leaders are targeted is because they hold the key for the welfare of this nation what they say in close door and in the open matter and have impact on people lives. So they cannot be ignored they are the many elephants in the country. Because I do believe that these individuals if their interest is not diverted they have the means to stop this bloodshed but they choose not to. Yes, whoever you are I can punish you and indeed, when you know me full well you will come to the realization that your own future rely on me. Whether it be spiritual or physical keep that in mind you may deny that at the moment due to lack of full knowledge of my background but overtime you will be a believer.
