South Sudan Minister of Defense Arrives in Khartoum, Sudan

Oct 26, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Angelina Jany Teny, arrives in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

According to South Sudan Ministry of Defense, Mrs Teny was accompanied by a huge delegation comprising of ministers and military generals.

Among the dignitaries accompanying the Minister of Defense are the South Sudan Minister of Interior General Paul Mayom Akec, Minister of Foreign Affairs Beatrice Khamis Wani,  South Sudan Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Johnson Juma Okot, Inspector Gen of Police, General Majak Akec and Chief of military intelligence Gen. Riing Tueny, among others.

“Today 26/10/2020, the Minister of Defense and Veterans’ Affairs, Hon. Angelina Jany Teny led a High level delegation of RTGONU composed of the Minister of Interior, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, CDF, IGP, Chief of MI and other dignitaries to Khartoum on National duties,” Col. Lam Paul Gabriel, Defense Ministry Press Secretary and the Deputy Spokesman of the SPLA-IO said.

The Press Secretary confirmed that the high level delegation arrived safely.

“The delegation arrived safely in Khartoum and were well received by their counterparts at Khartoum International Airport” Lam added.

Whereas the exact details of the visit are yet to be circulated, the two Sudans are peace guarantors for each other.

The two Sudans are also expected to resolve issues in Abyei that were recently raised by the U.S. and U.K during the UN Security Council meeting.

Teny may also meet with the SPLM/A-IO military leadership in Khartoum that has been vocal and critical of the peace agreement that has held Teny and Machar in Juba for the last nine months.
