December 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A South Sudan lawmaker at the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) has accused the Ugandan government of failing to protect refugees following fighting between South Sudanese refugees and host community in Northern Uganda.

On Tuesday, two South Sudanese refugees were killed and thirteen others were badly wounded after fighting with host by community who demanded the relocation of the South Sudanese refugees.

In an interview with Eye Radio on Friday, Hon. Dharuai Mabor who represents Western Lakes State in the TNLA said the Ugandan authorities did little to contain the violence when it started on Tuesday.

“I have realized that  there are people behind the conflict which erupted in the refugee camps, but the Ugandan government has failed even to bring security to protect the refugees because how can refugees fight for almost five hours and there’s no rescue from the Ugandan government?” he asked.

“There’s supposed to be no refugee left without security and without any protection.”
