August 28th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government has for the first time launched a Country-Code Top-Level Domains (ccTLD) according to the country’s National Communication Authority (NCA).
The .SS will be the country’s first segment of a domain name that will be recognized globally.
There are currently more than 190 unique country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) worldwide, which are assigned to different countries, and are intended to indicate the relevance and their links to each country.
They also have their own rules and regulations governing their ccTLDs.
The official launching ceremony of the South Sudan Top-Level Domain (.SS) is being held today in the capital, Juba and was organized by the National Communications Authority (NCA).
South Sudan, which gained independence from the north in 2011, continues to suffer from an economic crisis due to a civil war that has also forced millions of people to flee their homes.
