October 17th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The South Sudan Islamic Council (SSIC) said on Tuesday that it stand in solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against the diplomatic spat with Turkey that was sparked by the disappearance and apparent killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Renown Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi entered Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, the Turkey commercial capital, on October 2 and never returned to his fiance who was waiting him outside the consulate.
Sources from te Turkey security told the Associated Press on Tuesday that there is evidence that Khashoggi was killed inside the consulate by Saudi operators pointing to a voice recording that portrays last minutes of Jamal Khashoggi while his fingers were being cut off.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the South Sudan Islamic Council slammed the international media which it said is waging a media war against the Kingdom which is aimed at tarnishing its image worldwide.
The council did not mention the case of Jamal Khashoggi but supported the Saudi/Turkey spat in a diplomatic manner rather than wagging a media war against the Kingdom and the family of King Salman reaffirming its support for the rich Arab country.
“The South Sudan Islamic Council reaffirms its support and solidarity with and the support of the Muslim community in South Sudan for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in facing what it has been directed against it in term of media attacks and attempts to tarnish its image before the international community,” the council said in a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia.
The council statement further said it condemns in the strongest term possible the insults being directed with the motive of tarnishing the image of the Kingdom which it described as a blessed nation.
“We in the South Sudan Islamic Council condemns in the strongest term possible insults which are directed the against this blessed nation, the nation of the Two Holy Mosques and the nation of the praying direction,” the statement added.
The statement added that the South Sudan Islamic body supports and stands by the diplomatic efforts exerted by the Saudi King Salman to solve the diplomatic dispute with the Turkish President Recceb Tayeb Ordogan.
“We support efforts by servant of the two mosque in his initiative to solve the crisis using diplomatic ways with the sisterly Republic of Turkey. The wisdom of the two leaders King Salman and Ordogan is enough for solving this crisis in diplomatic ways,” the statement further said.
The Reuters reported on Wednesday that the Turkish authority were set to enter the residence of the Turkish Consul General who shortly after the disappearance of the Saudi journalist flew out of the country.
