June 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government said last week that it was not consulted by the African Union (AU) following the suspension of the member of the neighboring Sudan.

The continental body last week suspended the membership of Sudan following crackdown on a protesters sit-in before the General Headquarters of the Sudanese army killing over 100 people according to health sources.

Two a month ago, the African Union peace and security council said Sudan has two months to hand-over power to a civilian entity threatening to take measures if the ruling military junta fail to comply.

The northern neighbor is an important factor in South Sudan’s peace implementation because it mediated the agreement signed between government and various armed groups last year in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

In a statement to reporters on Friday following a weekly cabinet meeting, Information Minister, Michael Makuei, said the government was not consulted by the AU and would ask fro explanation from the body.

They didn’t consulted us and we would like to know the way forward from the IGAD and the AU,” Makuei told journalists on Friday.
