July 23rd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government has accused neighboring Uganda of harboring rebels in refugee camps where they coordinate attacks against South Sudan.

Ugandan government is a close ally of President Salva Kiir’s government and was the first to send troops to South Sudan to fight along the SPLA when Juba was almost captured by pro-Machar forces following the eruption of the ongoing conflict in South Sudan in December 2013.

Last week, leaders from border states in both Uganda and South Sudan met at an inter-border symposium held in Magwi County of Eastern Equatoria state and discussed challenges facing the two countries in the aspect of border-crossing.

Speaking at the meeting, South Sudan’s governor of Torit State, Alberio Tobiolo Oromo accused the authorities in Uganda of harboring rebel forces in northern part of the country where he said they have been launching attacks against South Sudan.

“We have intelligence information that rebel groups are using some areas in northern Uganda including refugee camps as a launched pad against our country,” the governor told his Ugandan guests.

“We should be careful about such practice so that it doesn’t spoil our cordial relationship,” he added.
