August 17th 2018(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan government delegation in the leadership committee has disagreed with opposition delegates in the same committee on which ministerial positions should be allocated to which party, senior opposition official told the Nyamilepedia on Thursday.
South Sudan government and opposition groups signed the long awaited peace deal early this month, however, the implementation matrix was not completed to end the ongoing civil war in the young African nation.
The parties decided to tackle the remaining issues though three committees, one of which is the leadership committee that is tasked to handle the ministerial positions and the number of states in the country.
In an exclusive interview with Nyamilepedia on Thursday, the SPLM-IO deputy chairperson of the National Committee for Information and Public Relations, Manawa Pete Gatkuoth, told our editorial team that the parties have not reached any agreement and as such they will expect the mediators to decide on the issue as none of the parties is conceding or compromising.
“We have disagreed also on the discussion on the issue of the ministerial positions, which position should be given to who but we have all wrote to the foreign minister [of Sudan] to handle this issue,” he said.
