May 14, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Former South Sudan military intelligence chief, General Marial Nuor, has died of the novel coronavirus a day after a senior member of the South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) died of the disease.
General Marial who is also a grade-three diplomat at South Sudan’s ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation contracted the virus last week and was reportedly treated at Lou Clinic in Juba before he was transferred to the military hospital where he died today at dawn.
“It is very sad to inform you that Ambassador General Marial Nuor passed away this morning at down at al-Qiada military hospital because of coronavirus,” one colleague at the ministry of health told Nyamilepedia from Juba on condition of anonymity.
A military official separately said Marial has been sick due to the coronavirus for a week. He said the former military spy chief contracted the virus last week and was tested positive for the virus after exhausting his strength to fight an unknown infection at home.
“He was infected by the coronavirus last week. He didn’t know that he has the virus and that’s why he stayed at home. After diagnosis three days later, he was taken to Lou Clinic and then to Qiada military hospital where he died this morning at dawn,” he said.
