Juba, South Sudan.
February 2, 2022—South Sudan’s National Security Service’s Chief Gen. Akol Koor Kuc received the former opposition spokesperson of South Sudan United Front (SSUF) under the Former Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Paul Malong Awan.
The former SSUF/A official arrived in Juba a week after he decamped Paul Malong’s group following allegations that the rebel movement lacked clear vision and sense of directions.
In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, Gen. Akol receives the opposition spokesperson; however, a press statement extended to our editorial team indicates that the issue discussed remains mysterious so far.
“It remains unclear what the security chief discussed with the former rebel official”, the statement reads.
It’s not the first time for Gen. Malong’s official Spokespersons to abandon him.
According to the statement, Chapath became the fifth senior official to abandon Malong’s rebel movement, with analyst attributing the defections to lack of resources and poor leadership in SSUF.
The political observers, however, argued that Kiir’s government has decided to buy back loyalities from Malong’s close associates with a view that it would initiate a dialogue.
Meanwhile, Malong appointed Garang Malual Deng Yak as the new Secretary of Information and Communication Technology and the spokesperson of SSUF/A.
