March 6, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —— Latest reports from South Sudan capital, Juba, alleged that the Deputy Minister of Defense and veteran affairs, Lt. Gen. David Yau Yau, is currently under house arrest.

According to insiders Lt. Gen. David Yau Yau has been under house arrest since Friday over a scandalous fighting between Murle Youth and Dinka Bor youth, who are backed by the army, SPLA-IG.

In retaliation to past attacks and cattle raiding in parts of Bor, Twi and Duk counties, within the last few months, Bor youth mobilized and launched their first attack on Murle two days ago, 4th March, 2017.

According to local residents, Bor Youth raided Kochar and Manybol on Saturday with support of the army.

After Murle Youth tactically withdrawn into the bushes of Kochar, the heavily armed youth from Bor county went on to spend their night at the outskirts of Manybol.

According to Luka Daud, a resident of Pibor, Bor Youth were flushed out at dawn on Sunday morning and a mixed reinforcement of armed youth and SPLA were also defeated by the Murle youth on Sunday, March 5th, 2017.

“A contingent of SPLA, which brought a reinforcement at around 9am, were also defeated by the Murle youth in Kolchar” Said Luka Daud, a resident of Pibor.

Daud could not confirm the number of cattle raided by the armed youth but he claims that a few cows were raided and taken toward Bor town.

The ongoing fighting between the youth in former Jonglei state between Dinka Bor and Murle is believe to have contributed to Yau Yau’s arrest.

Although he declared his defected from COBRA to SPLM/A, Lt. Gen. David Yau Yau reportedly remains a suspect to some of his colleagues, who doubts his support for Salva Kiir’s government.

These officials claim that Yau Yau has defected twice since 2010 election and he could defect again anytime to join his people against the government.

Lt. Gen. David Yau Yau’s former COBRA deputy Chairman and Deputy C-in-C, Maj. Gen. Khalid Bora, defected from the government late last year and threatened to fight on with the youth until a reasonable peace is achieved.

Since then, Lt. Gen. David Yau has been allegedly under tight security in Juba to cut off any financial or moral support to Murle youth, a report Nyamilepedia could not independently verify.
