May 4, 2022 — South Sudan declared a three-day public holiday starting on Monday, May 22, up to Thursday May 5, 2022.
As Ramandan came to an end on Sunday, the South Sudan Islamic Council urged the Muslim fraternity to dedicate the Ramadan season to help their neighbors who are undergoing number of hardships.
The South Sudanese Muslims joined their fellow Muslims around the world to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr.
Eid al-Fitr is a religious holiday that marks the end of the Islamic holy month of fasting also known as ” Ramadan” .
Mosques and public grounds were seen crowded in the capital Juba with hundreds of worshipers on Monday morning.
Speaking to the media, one of Muslims fellow, who identified himself as Abdullah Baraj, called for unity among South Sudanese.
“This is an opportunity to call on all the people of South Sudan to unite and leave hatred and discrimination and work as one man to develop South Sudan, a country in which there are many good things”, he urged.
“We just want there to be peace between us, peace in every home and peace in the hearts of everyone, and we hope our government will take care of providing services and taking care of the weak, education, health, and all the needy because this brings blessings.”, Baraj added.
Tut Gatluak Manime, the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs and Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, the Vice President on Service Cluster joined their fellow Muslims during prayers on Sunday.
