January 22nd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation condemned on Tuesday the use of the South Sudan’s flag to symbolize terrorism in a new film released by the US-based Netflix media company.

This week, a new film released by the Netflix portrayed South Sudanese flag as a terrorist flag sparking outrage in the social media.

Reacting to the matter on Tuesday, South Sudan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Mawien Makol said in an exclusive interview with the Juba based independent Eye Radio that the ministry condemns the matter although they are not sure who made the film.

“That movie we don’t know who did it, but we condemn the fact that our flag has been put there, we have no any connection with it,” he said.

“Our flag stand for sovereignty of people of South Sudan and the nation of South Sudan. We are a nation that the whole world knows who we are,” he added.
