January 2nd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A South Sudan cleric has urged the citizens in the war-torn country to fight tribalism and embrace peace and reconciliation as the world’s youngest nation enters New Year.
The Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Rev. Justin Badi Arama, said in his New Year message:
“The old has passed and the new has come. This means our decision, actions must reflect the kingdom values of love, peace, forgiveness and reconciliation.”
He further urged the people of South Sudan to be hopeful that the ongoing civil war and political instability mainly fueled by tribalism will be brought to an end by the leaders who have accused each other of undermining the peace process in several occasion.
“Our prayer is for every South Sudanese to look at things in new ways and have renewed effort for hope, peace and stability,” he said further appealing to the people of South Sudan to pray for the country’s leaders and mediators involved in all efforts to achieve peace through the formation of a unity government.
