November 8,2021—The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority has grounded the newly acquired Nyanbiting Aviation cargo plane over safety concerns.
This grounding order of Nyanbiting Aviation aircraft came days after a cargo plane crashed few minutes after taking-off from Juba International Airport leaving all the five crew members on-board dead.
In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority department of airworthiness has temporarily suspended Nyanbiting Aviation cargo plane from flying citing safety concerns.
” Please be informed that the aircraft registered 3D-GSS has been grounded to to safety concerns,” a letter addressed to Nyanbiting by South Sudan Civil Aviation states.
According to the statement, it cites that the plane captain flew the plane without a co-pilot while the plane is certified as a multi-crew plane leaving concerns if the management is trying to cut down cost at the expense of safety.
Nyanbiting cargo plane was officially launched last month; however, the old Antov has faced sharp criticisms over the last three weeks with critics saying that it is outdated is no longer in use in many parts of the world..
On Thursday South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority suspended the agency under which the crashed plane operated until further investigations are carried out by technical committee.
Last week, President Kiir constituted the technical committee to investigate the factors surrounding the crash on the airplane that fell down just minutes after taking-off killing all five crew members on board.
South Sudan is facing a relatively high numbers of plane crashes which are most often attributed to mechanical problems; however, the government has done very little to regulate the aviation industry.
