December 18th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan church leaders said on Tuesday that there is need for peace and reconciliation in the war-torn African country.

This came in a festive message sent as a statement on Tuesday by the South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC) from the capital Juba.

On this festive day, let us ask the Lord for Peace, Healing, Forgiveness and Reconciliation for South Sudan. Let us pray that the will to resume dialogue on issues of concerns and tensions may prevail between the parties and that a negotiated solution can finally be reached, one that would allow the peaceful coexistence of communities of South Sudan,” the religious body said.

May the Lord also sustain the efforts of all those in the international community inspired by goodwill to help that afflicted people of South Sudan, despite grave obstacles, the harmony, justice and security that it has long awaited.

We see Jesus in the faces of the children and people of South Sudan, wounded and torn by the conflicts that country has experienced in the last six (6) years, and where there have been the problems of natural disaster of floods, with serious humanitarian implications for its people, who suffer from hunger and the spread of diseases.”
