August 22, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — A charter plane that crashed after taking off from South Sudan’s Juba International Airport this morning carried a lot of money and nine people.
Out of the nine passengers and pilot, only one person survived.
Speaking to media, eyewitnesses from Komiru village confirmed that money could be seen burning in flames at the scene as the charter caught fire.
The witnesses believe the estimate could be between one to one billions South Sudanese pound and approximately one million US Dollar.
The airline is yet to address the media; however, insiders with knowledge of this morning schedule alleged that the money belong to some senior government officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
So far, no one has come forward to claim responsibility of any damaged property from the plane crash.
According to a lettter of condolences from President Salva Kiir, the plane was traveling from Juba to Aweil but it was scheduled to stop in Wau before it proceeded to Aweil.
Responding to media reports, the owner of South Supreme Airlines, Mr Ayii Duang Ayii, denied allegations that the plane that crashed belong to his company, saying:
“The Plane which crashed this morning in Juba it does not belong to South Supreme Airlines it is owned by South West company, our condolences to victims of the incident” Mr Ayii said.
Just yesterday, Mr. Ayii announced that his South Supreme Airlines was going to resume international flights very soon.
Speaking to Radio Bakhita on Friday, Ayii said the Company suspended operations in 2013 due to security concerns; however, he promised that plans were underway to resume international flights.
