June 26, 2021 — Residents of the South Sudanese capital,Juba, have experienced a light earthquake this evening starting from 10:30pm in multiple parts of the city, no destruction has been reported.
While some residents started experiencing earthquake after 10:30pm, others including Nyamilepedia team in the capital didn’t notice it until after 11pm. .
Majority of the residents reported that it was a light earthquake but some reported feeling a powerful shake
“Earthquake has just happened now in Juba.” Ajok Adet Ajok Yueu wrote around after 11pm
“That’s very powerful earthquake, thank God we’re safe!” Gad Dak Chuol wrote
Light earthquakes in Juba are more frequent these days. For some residents it is the first or second times they felt earthquake but for others it is the third or fourth time.

Religious and spiritual Interpretation.
Yesterday a self-proclaimed prophet Abraham Chol, the founder of the Cush International Church, claimed that the two leaders of South Sudan, President Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar Teny, will lose power by July 9 and a new leadership will be sworn in.

Although Pastor Chol did not say how the two leaders will lose power and why, he is yet to claim responsibility for the earthquake but other religious group did.
A Prophetess by the name Shelina Doro of the Ministry of Christ For All Nations, took it to Dr. Riek Machar’s Faccebook page to warn people to pray for the 8th of July saying an earthquake is a visible token of God’s warning.
“Earthquake is visible tokens of God’s power, His voice just shook Juba then as a warning. Let’s pray for the month of July. Let’s pray that the politics if heaven be translated into practice by the South Sudanese leaders.” Shelina Doro of Ministry Of Christ For All Nations said.
“Again, I appeal, pray for the month 8f July 2021, for the nation of South Sudan. Earth just shook Juba as a,#warning Repent, Forgive and Reconcile: remain the “calling” #ProphetessShelina” She continued.
Different residents paraphrased the same message but differently, saying the ancestors are expressing their disappointments.
“My Juba people, that wasn’t an Earthquake y’all felt…those were our angry disappointed ancestors turning from their graves. They are NOT happy” Amakou Telar said.
“Let thanks God that we are all safe at our homes. We have just Experience Earthquake shake in Juba l think you all felt it shake and gone peacefully without any harm. Let remain calmed its normal changes, because its not the first time for such to occurred….We love South Sudan” Nyaku Lom
For others it is all Abraham Chol’s fault.
“Yes, very right. Some are now here at night security meeting to discuss Rev. Abraham Chol words” Mayom Nuer said.
“Abraham Chol have started his miracle. I heard there is an earthquake going on now in Juba” Said another residents.
According to Abraham Chol, the people of South Sudan will welcome a new leadership on independence day, July 9th, 2021.
“Happy independence of 9th July 2021 to the people of the land of Cush, South [Sudan]. By divine kingship authority, I decree and declare that the time of the current President H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit and his Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and all movements who are fighting for power is finished,” Abrahm Chol wrote.
“This means the independence celebration for this year will mark two big events; Farewell to H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit and Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and thanksgiving for their good service to the nation for the last 37 years of struggle, reception, and welcoming of the new young president for the Republic of South Sudan,” Chol claims.
At the time of this writing, no geologist has determined the magnitude of the earthquake but according to scientific data, people report feeling earthquakes larger than about magnitude 3.0.
The magnitude, location, and depth of an earthquake, and overlying soil conditions determine how widely and strongly any particular event can be felt.
