South Sudan capital frequently hit by Earthquake

Juba, South Sudan

December 17, 2021— South Sudan capital, Juba, has been experiencing growing number of Earthquake of recent causing panic on what is likely to happen as the capital begin to intensify construct of high-rise buildings

As of Thursday earthquake was felt by many residents of Juba who took it to social media almost immediately to share their experiences.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia from capital Juba, one of the residents of Rock City suburb in Juba said the earthquake shook the capital at around 4:00 PM.

Ms. Sarah John said earthquake shook the apartment where she lives and that left her with big concerns until she realized that it happened across the whole city.

” I was afraid, because it strongly shaken my apartment, I didn’t know that it was the earth quick until I was informed by my friends from another areas”, Sarah told Nyamilepedia From Rock City suburb in Juba.

Sarah said it was running very fast and everything was shaking underground.

“It has very an extraordinary speed, I thought that it was train but I also realized that no railway here for train pass near our area”,she added.

 

Juba is a mountainous city and it’s not the first time for earthquake to hit the capital. Over the last six months it has happened at night several times but due to lack of advance seismology in South Sudan, earthquake reporting is very limited.
