September 27, 2021—The Cabinet of South Sudan has passed a fiscal budget of 287.04 billion South Sudanese Pounds on Friday, September 24, 2021.
Speaking to media on Friday last week, the government spokesman and minister of information, Hon. Michael Makuei Lueth, confirmed the digit but said South Sudan cannot meet its fiscal budget based on oil revenue alone.
According to the government spokesman, the 2021/2022 fiscal budget estimates will be raised from an hybrid of oil revenue, non-oil revenues, donations, grants, loans and any other possible means.
Speaking after a cabinet meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir on Friday, the information minister confirmed that the budget was passed but not without challenges.
“this passed budget includes the revenues that will be generated from the oil and revenue that will be generated from non-oil plus grants that we will get from some of the countries.” Hon. Michael Makuei said.
The government spokesman reiterated that the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning is expected to present the draft budget before the Reconstituted Transitional Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA) for final ratification.
“This budget was discussed and passed with some amendments in the figures, and the Minister of Finance and Planning was directed to present the bill to the Transitional Legislative Assembly for consideration,” he added.
According to the law, the budget is supposed to be submitted to the national legislature no later than the 15th of May of each fiscal year, which runs from 1 July to 30 June each year; however, due to lack of a legitimate parliament earlier this year, the process did not take place as expected.

Here in my home state of Jonglei, a budget had already been passed, and I think, it is a surplus, than the federal government budget in Juba. the same with upper Nile state budget. What do you low lives smoke?
