August 20, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) is increasing its militarization of the country’s capital Juba, a document obtained by Nyamilepedia on Thursday said.
In the document which is handily-written, the Assistant Chief of Defense Forces (A/CDF) for Operation Lt. Gen. Marshal Stephen Bababen wrote to at least four army divisions as well as Warrap Special Forces asking for at least 120 soldiers each.
“You are hereby directed to contribute troops for Standby Forces to be sent to SSPDF ground force (G.F) GHQS in Juba within 72hours of the reception of this message,” the letter written in capital letters partly read.
According to the letter, the 4th, 5th, 8th, and 3rd Infantry Division would contribute 120 soldiers each. Warrap Special Forces would alone contribute 240 soldiers.
Those soldiers, according to the document seen by Nyamilepedia, are to be deployed in the capital Juba. It however did not specify what burden would need such a huge military presence in the capital.
