June 6, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan police said on Friday that twenty suspects – including six members of the army – have been arrested and operations were underway to apprehend more linked into the incident which killed innocent civilians earlier this week.
On Tuesday, a relative of President Salva Kiir Mayardit reportedly opened fire on civilians killing five over land dispute.
The president’s relative who is identified as Laul Akook Wol (aka Lual Marine) later on died from injuries which he incurred during standoff with angry protesters who were denouncing the killing of innocent and unarmed civilians.
Speaking to reporters in Juba on Friday, the minister of interior, Paul Mayom Akech said the army was about to arrest 20 including six members of the South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) and police were still hunting others linked into the incident.
According to the minister, the Sherikat incident death toll also has hiked to 9.
