South Sudan: 2.9 magnitude earthquake hits Juba

May 4, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – A 2.9 magnitude earthquake has stroke the capital Juba causing panic among the population on Monday, residents said.

Residents said the earthquake hit the Hai Matar area near the Juba International Airport. No casualties have however been reported.

“There is a earthquake in Juba today. It has been said that it is a 2.9 magnitude earthquake. We don’t know what will happen next,” one resident told Nyamilepedia from Juba on Monday night.

Another Juba resident said the situation at returned to calm and that the earthquake hit the capital at 9:00PM.
