Dec 11, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– The Council of Ministers has directed the Minister of General Education and Instruction to ensure that all the new states that have no secondary schools are given special attention.
Speaking to journalists after the Cabinet meeting yesterday, the Minister of Information and government spokesperson Hon. Michael MakueiLueth says the Ministry of Education has been directed to offer special attention to girl-child education following their low performance in this year’s secondary education examinations.
“The cabinet approved or endorsed the results of the secondary school certificate and in that particular case directed the Ministry of Education to pay special attention to the education of girls because the percentage of girls’ performance to boys was very low. It is about 29%,” he said.

“The Ministry of Education should also give special attention to those new states which do not have secondary schools by giving them opportunities to have their secondary schools,” said Makuei.
On same note, the Council of Ministers has also directed the Education Ministry to revive those secondary schools that were temporally closed down by conflict to reopen to enable children begin their learning.
Meanwhile, Deng Deng Hoc Yai, minister of education and General Instruction has also presented a sample of the Primary School Certificate which was later approved by the cabinet with some amendments to make it look credible.
The Information Minister said the Council directed further discussion on national budget due to the high tuition fees imposed on the public university students.
“Up to this moment the budget has not yet been presented to the President for signature and one of the reasons for delay is the issue of the high tuition fees being imposed on the students by the universities. These fees are too high; so it is decided that they sit as concerned people so that some of these issues are addressed,” Makuei said.
