Slain SPLA General laid to rest in Guit

August 23rd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan Army said on Thursday that the slain general who was killed during fighting with rebels around Bentiu On Tuesday night has been laid to rest in Guit county in Northern Liech on Thursday.

Brigadier General Goakuoth Machar was killed during clashes between SPLA and rebel forces loyal to the country’s former First Vice-president Dr. Riek Machar Teny in Kuergeng near Bentiu.

In a exclusive interview with the Nyamilepedia, the SPLA official spokesman Brig. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang said the fallen General has been laid to rest in his home town Guit.

“The Brigadier General has been put to rest this afternoon in Guit county,” he told the Nyamilepedia.

He said the fallen officer is from the SPLA-IO faction led by the country’s First Vice-president Taban Deng Gai who merged his SPLM-IO faction with the ruling SPLM faction led by President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.

“The officers who were killed wewe from the SPLA-IO Taban Deng Gai,” he added.
