March 3rd 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Shops were this morning briefly closed at Juba market after fake reports of the deadly coronavirus were circulated, residents said.

One resident said the panic started after a group of people seated at a tea shop in Juba Town fled the shop randomly allegedly because a suspected coronavirus case was observed.

“This morning, we were standing at a forex in Juba waiting for money, a group of people, most of them are ground up people and educated, fled saying there was a person with coronavirus,” one resident said.

“Because of this, many people have been returning home and even some shops have been closed,” he added.

There is no reported or confirmed coronavirus case in the country. Authorities have set up surveillance in all ports of entry including at Juba International Airport.
