March 5th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Sudan’s ousted president, Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir chaired a meeting of top National Congress Party (NCP) figures inside prison, the Sudanese media reported.
The Sudan First, a Khartoum-based daily newspaper said it learned from private and exclusive sources that a meeting of the leadership of the NCP was held inside Kober Prison and that the meeting took place in a “complete secrecy” on Tuesday night.
The source quoted said “the meeting started with a report on the overall situation, including the conditions of the detainees themselves, and the cooperation with the investigation committees, as well as discussing political developments in the country.”
The source revealed a positive stance of al-Bashir towards the ruling military considering it the most appropriate to lead the transitional period. Al-Bashir also praised the assignment of Professor Ibrahim Ghandour to lead the party following his last year removal from office.
The meeting, the source said, also discussed the “need to bring up new cadres, and replace organizational structures.” The source further said opinions differed on the activities of the National Congress Party following its dissolution and that the meeting also agreed to support “the cohesion of the armed forces, not to engage in a confrontation with the Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC), and to maintain the stability of the country until the elections.
The meeting concluded that the 2019 change was a good opportunity to get rid of external sanctions and openness to the world as well as to create an opportunity for a democratic change including national recovery, stopping the war, and achieving a comprehensive peace. Among the new detainees.
