Juba, South Sudan
July 16, 2021 — Responding to the swift decision of the former Chairman and Commander in Chief of the South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC), senior members of the SSNMC have downplayed the move, saying it won’t change anything.
In a statement by Hon. Clement Obogoni Wiya, a senior member of the South Sudan National Movement for Change, Joseph Bakosoro’s decision to rejoin the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) under the leadership of President Kiir Mayardit will not change anything in SSNMC or its political decisions.
This happens in less than 24 hours after Joseph Bakosoro has re-declared his political allegiance to the SPLM yesterday during the press conference in Juba underlining that he doesn’t want to be remembered by the upcoming generations as the reason for disunity and destruction which has engulfed the entire country and particularly his constituency Western Equatoria State whom he said have been divided badly because of his absence from the SPLM.
According to reliable information received by Nyamilepedia, senior members of SSNMC are claiming that their party is a very huge opposition whose membership is reflected across the country and beyond and as such it couldn’t be undermined by the decision of its leader and some members who have just rejoined the ruling party, SPLM.
“NMC is a grassroot movement with a membership across the country including the diaspora so, what has happened is that our chairman have done personal decision together with some colleagues to rejoin the SPLM”, Obogoni said.
The senior opposition member assured the public that despite the redefection of their leader to SPLM, the SSNMC is still active and functional as it used to be.
” NMC is very much alive it is just the leader and some members who have rejoined the SPLM” he added.
Joseph Bakosoro joined the SPLM yesterday, July 14, 2021, during a press conference in Juba, a party he has parted ways with for good 11 years.
Bakosoro claims to have dissolved his party, South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC), however, it remains to be seen if some of his colleagues and members will continue to run the party or not.
Until the time of this writing, Nyamilepedia editorial staffs made several attempts to reach Hon. Bakosoro for comments; however, he is yet to respond.
