Security situation deteriorates in Juba as gunfire erupts near Munuki

September 9th 2018 (Nyamillepedia) – Security situation has declined in the capital Juba as armed robbery gains mometum in the most populated South Sudanese town. This came as armed criminals exchanges gunfire in the Mangateen neighborhood of the Munuki district.

Several sources told the Nyamilepedia on Saturday that the gun battle erupted during the early hours of Saturday when a group of unidentified gunmen counter attacked a similar group instigating a fierce gun battle.

“This morning, a group of armed men attacked another armed group after a previous minor dispute over unknown issue,” the source told the Nyamilepedia.

Other sources revealed that one person has been killed after being court between fires as the two gang groups exchange gun fire overnight on Saturday.

“One person has been confirmed dead when he came in between the fighting groups because he was struggling to flee the scene of the fighting,” the source who referred anonymity told the Nyamilepedia.

South Sudan has been in a civil war since December 2013 following a National Convention of the ruling fractured SPLM party after some party leaders, including President Salva Kiir Mayardit came into dispute over the mode of votes.

Since then,  the capital Juba has remained a fertile ground for armed robbery with the organized forces involved in the illegal activity.
