Security in Abyei is tense due to recent attacks in the area

Dec 7, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — Briefing president Salva Kiir today in his office, the Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area Hon. Kuol Deim Kuol said security remains tense in Abyei due to recent attack in the area.

“H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit was briefed in his Office this Monday morning, by the Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area Hon. Kuol Deim Kuol.” Read part of the report from President Kiir’s office.

According to president Kiir’s press secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny, Hon. Kuol Deim briefed the president and called for humanitarian assistance.

“In his remarks to the media after the meeting, Hon. Kuol Deim Kuol said, he briefed H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit about the security situation of Abyei Administrative Area and the dire need for humanitarian assistance in Abyei.” The statement added.

The Chief administrator explained that Abyei was attacked recently by the Misseriya tribe of Sudan leaving security situation more tense than before.

“Hon. Kuol Deim Kuol said, the security situation in Abyei Administrative Area is tense due to the recent attack from Misseriya tribe of Sudan.” Kiir’s office report.

Briefing the media, Hon. Kuol said, he eliminated roadblocks in Abyei Administrative Area to allow accessibility of the humanitarian assistance to the areas.

The Executive Director in the Office of the President Hon. James Deng Wal also attended the meeting.
