October 5th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s army chief General Gabriel Jok Riak reportedly met his Ugandan counterpart in Kampala on Thursday.
The high-level military meeting comes as the government in Juba is about to form a transitional government of national unity with several opposition groups who are co-signatories to the revitalized peace deal of September 2018.
In a statement to Nyamilepedia, a source in Juba said President Kiir dispatched General Jok after a request from President Museveni.
“The meeting was conducted after President Museveni requested that,” the source said. “President Kiir was responding to an initiative by his brother Museveni.”
The meeting, the official said, is aimed at addressing military issues between the two countries.
