Oct 08, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– For the last few days, the National Security loyal to president Kiir vandalized properties belonging to exiled politicians who oppose Salva Kiir’s leadership.

The Security intelligent reportedly smacked down houses belonging to the family of Late Dr. John Garang de Mabior, the founder of SPLM/SPLA who died in a plane crush shortly after the signing of the comprehensive peace agreement in 2005.

According to eyewitnesses Garang’s family house in Tongpiny in the capital were destroyed by security forces last week.

President Salva Kiir and Garang’s family have been in a political dispute over the leadership and poor management of the country since Garang’s controversial death in 2005.

Another senior politician, whose house has been vandalized, is Gen. Mach Paul, the former Chief of Military Intelligence.

Gen. Mach Paul was fired by the President after testifying against allegations of a military coup against Kiir’s leadership in 2013.

Although the case was dismissed by the court due to lack of evidence, Gen. Mach Paul fled to exile after he was removed in April 2014. He currently lives in Nairobi.

Another property confiscated by the national security belongs to Pagan Amum, the former Secretary General of the ruling party and the leader of SPLM Leaders, also known as the Former Political Detainees.

Pagan fled to exile for the second time after signing the peace agreement in August 2015 following threats and intimidations by senior politicians, specially Hon. Michael Makuei Lueth, the long time rival of “Garang’s Boys”.

Another collateral damage is a senior Nuer general, Lt. Gen. Peter Bol Koang, whose house was burned down also last week in Juba.

Although Gen. Bol remains on Kiir’s side, he is a member of Lou-Nuer tribe and one of the generals implicated by the past 1991 conflict which immensely traumatized the today’s ruling elites.

Attempts to use Gen. Bol to fight wars against his Lou-Nuer tribes in 2006 and 2013 did not materialize well for the government side.

Bol’s house was also attacked and his bodyguards were killed during the fighting in July this year.

Gen. Bol, who refused to run to exile, was rescued by his bodyguards and rushed to UNMISS camp within the capital until the fighting subdued on July 11th.

Although some government supporters believe that the government did not order such vandalism, President Salva Kiir has threatened senior generals and politicians including Lt. Gen. Martin Kenyi, who defected and waged armed resistance, that his government will confiscate all their properties.

According to major reports by AUCISS, UN and human rights watch, the government employs scorched earth policy, rape, demolition, destruction and massacres of civilians to raise the price of rebellion.

Many villages and towns in Upper Nile and Equatoria, which were once held by the rebels, faced massive destruction, mostly, from the government troops.

The police and security apparatus have demolished or shut down churches and private properties after the religious leaders and private owners spoke out against the government.

Media houses and radio stations have been forcefully shutdown and security forces hunt down journalists and human right activists, both locals and internationals, for releasing sensitive information or reporting rebels’ activists in and outside the country.

The government has also withdrawn passports or citizenship of senior exiled politicians including Dr. Majak D’ Agot, the former Deputy Minister of defense, SG Pagan Amum and Hon. Joseph Bakosoro, the former Governor of Western Equatoria.

The three politicians were also jailed and tortured for more than 3 months and later released without significant charges.
