August 13, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s minister of defense, Angelina Teny, has called upon all actors in the world’s youngest country to end the use of child soldiers in the armed forces.
Teny who is also the chairperson of the SPLM-IO National Committee for Security and Defense and a senior member of the country’s Joint Defense Board (JDB) made the remarks during a three-day workshop that aims to establish committees to prevent exploitation against children’s rights.
“There is a need for us to work together as partners in peace and end the violations and the exploitation against children,” Teny said. “We need to support the children so that they don’t return to the frontline after they are released.”
South Sudan is one of the countries that are having child soldiers among their forces in the world.
