August 4, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government has said that relations have improved with the government of Sudan since the removal of President Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir in a nation-wide protest in 2019.
The comments were made by the undersecretary of the ministry of health Awou Daniel Chuang during an exclusive interview with S&P Global Platts in the capital Juba on Sunday.
Chuang said in the interview that cooperation with Sudan especially on oil transport via Sudanese infrastructure has seen a great improvement since the removal of Omar al-Bashir in 2019.
“We are currently on very good terms with Sudan,” Chuang said. “We pay Sudan fees, or tariffs, as set out in the agreement. This process has progressed very well to date, with no major issues.”
“But we did have some problems with the previous administration. Things have improved since the change of government and there is generally a better understanding, and an improved relationship,” the former petroleum minister said.
