March 3rd 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan president, Salva Kiir Mayardit, and his first deputy Dr. Riek Machar met on Tuesday as deadlock on allocation of ministries continue to block the formation of the revitalized unity government.

The meeting between Kiir and Machar at the state house J1 this afternoon came hours after a senior SPLM-IO official said the deadlock over the division of the ministries may continue for weeks “because the government want to take key ministries” such as defense, finance and petroleum.

“The President of the Republic, H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit met with the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar and the Deputy Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereign Council Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo Hemeti at the State House on Tuesday,” the presidency said in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement said Kiir and Machar “discussed the formation of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity.”
