March 9th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government and opposition officials negotiating the formation of the revitalized unity government have said they were not sure when the unity government will be formed.
This comes almost a week after reports of the parties reaching consensus on the allocation of national ministers as provided for in the revitalized unity government.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this morning, a government official who is directly involved in the government formation talks said he was not sure while saying almost all that is needed for the formation of the transitional government has been completed.
“We don’t know when the government will be formed. We have reached agreements on almost all the issues needed to form the government but I am not sure as to when the reconstitution transitional government will be formed,” the government official said from Juba on condition of anonymity.
For his part, an SPLM-IO official who also requested not to be named said talks were “still under way and we will inform the public once everything is completed and the country is ready for the formation of the unity government.”
