March 6th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan has asked the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to stop rotation of troops from Asia.

A letter from South Sudan army chief Gen. Gabriel Jok Riak to UNMISS seen by Nyamilepedia did not however give reason but it is likely because of fears of the coronavirus.

The countries where UNMISS would stop troops rotation would includes China, where the virus first originated in December last year.

“I present my compliments to you and I write to inform your esteemed office to put on hold the rotation of UNMISS forces from China, South Korea, India, Nepal and Cambodia until further notice,” the letter signed by Gen. Jok Riak reads.
