June 2, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan army, the South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) has yesterday sent a reinforcement to the Kajo-Keji of the country’s Central Equatoria state as fighting between government forces and rebel groups intensify there.

According to a military source at Bilpam, troops were sent in from Yei town and Nesitu, a border area along South Sudan’s southern border to Kajo-Keji and some parts of Central Equatoria state.

“Reinforcements have been sent to Kajo-Keji from Yei and Nesitu to help those already there fight off the rebels of Thomas Cirilo,” the source told Nyamilepedia from Juba this afternoon.

Fighting has been raging on in several parts of Central and Western Equatoria state with holdout opposition groups under General Thomas Cirilo Swaka accusing the SSPDF and SPLA-IO of launching joint attacks.

The army have not denied or confirmed the accusation but SPLA-IO distanced itself from the alleged offensives and instead accused the National Salvation Front (NAS) of waging attacks against its basis there.
