June 19, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – A senior commander of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) has been killed in Western Equatoria state after the South Sudan army attacked – in a joint operation with civilians – a SPLA-IO base there, a senior opposition official said this morning.
The SPLA-IO official who spoke to Nyamilepedia from Juba this morning said the incident took place on Wednesday in Tambura County in the country’s Western Equatoria state and resulted in the killing of senior SPLA-IO commander which he identified as Brig. Gen. Santo Natali Ali.
“Next yesterday, a group of government soldiers and local militia group attacked our base in Tambura. We don’t know why it happened and as a result, they have killed Brigadier General Santo Natali Ali,” the official said from Juba.
“They killed with him 10 soldiers of the SPLA-IO and this is the report we are having from the ground,” the official said.
