February 19th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s 4th Infantry Division has arrested former Northern Liech state’s Pawiel County commissioner, Gen. Apollo Mayang, days after President Salva Kiir dissolved the controversial 32 states, sources said.
One relative who refused to be identified told Nyamilepedia from Bentiu that Mayang, was arrested this morning after state government secretary ordered he be put behind bars.
“This morning, Apollo Mayang was arrested after the state secretary order him detained. We don’t know the reasons yet,” the source said.
On Saturday, Kiir agreed to an opposition demand to return the country to its original ten states dissolving the controversial 32 states.
Pawiel was a county during until Kiir revoked the 32 states on Saturday and the arrest is not the first of its kind since Kiir dissolved the states.
On Monday, National Security (NSS) arrested the Mayor of Renk town after expressing his disappointment over the reestablishment of the ten states.
