October 11th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Senior government officials in South Sudan’s Ruweng state have claimed that Rubkona Airport in the government’s Northern Liech state belongs to them.

Sources told Nyamilepedia on Thursday that a delegation of ten gov’t officials from Pariang approached UNMISS base in Rubkona with a number of demands including a payment for the world mission’s use of Rubkona airport since it came to what was Unity state in 2005.

“Ten officials from Parieng came yesterday and went to UNMISS in Rubkona and asked them to pay them for using the airport,” one source told the Nyamilepedia.

Another source said the same official had approached President Kiir’s office for a meeting but it was unclear what was the outcome of the meeting.

“We heart that they went to the office of the President of the Republic for a meeting but we don’t know what was the outcome,” the source said.
